The Mandate of F.C.S.S.
The mandate of F.C.S.S. is to promote volunteerism and to help provide programs that are preventive in nature in order to:
- enhance, strengthen, and stabilize family and communities;
- improve people's ability to identify and act on their own needs;
- help avert family or community social breakdown;
- help prevent small problems from turning into a crisis;
- provide citizens with information about its planning and operation;
- use clearly identified needs and effective planning as the basis for services provided;
- encourage cooperation with other service agencies in the community.
We can help:
- identify community needs.
- develop new services to meet needs.
- by being a resource for ongoing operations.
- by being a source of information on available services in the community.
- by encouraging community groups to work together for the betterment and well being of the community and its residents.
It is not the intention of F.C.S.S. to create programs that will run but, rather, to provide the resources and support to help independent groups develop and operate independent programs. However, F.C.S.S. is within mandate to offer preventive programs within its operation that it sees fit to run for the benefit of the community.
F.C.S.S. programs are not intended to provide recreation, rehabilitation, or treatment. They do not provide direct financial assistance to individuals or families.
Yellowhead Community Support Society is under the umbrella of M - M - I F.C.S.S. and hosts the Meals on Wheels and Transportation Services projects.
